First off I would like to say superb blog! I had a quick question that I’d like to ask if you don’t mind. I was curious to find out how you center yourself and clear your head prior to writing. I have had a hard time clearing my mind in getting my thoughts out there. I truly do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are lost simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any recommendations or hints? Thank you!

Great question.
Ways of clearing my mind have included reading work that excites me, listening to music that moves me, or even going for a walk (which, while mind-cleansing, often makes great ideas pop into my head). Mostly though, it’s a process of putting the pen to the paper and writing despite an opposite urge either get up from the writing desk or to keep staring into space, thinking of what I want to write instead of just writing it. Learning to write no matter what mood one is in takes practice, but if writing is your talent oftentimes sitting down to write isn’t. Walking, jogging, and music are great, but learning to sit is the best skill for a writer to learn.
If you really struggle with concentration, turn off the smart phone and write by hand or typewriter for your initial draft. I write almost every first draft by hand. The transfer of the manuscript to digital form and the editing process are done on a computer that literally can’t connect to the internet. It’s only when I’m searching for publishers that I get online.

I am really loving the theme/design of your website. Do you ever run into any browser compatibility issues? A couple of my blog readers have complained about my site not operating correctly in Explorer but looks great in Safari. Do you have any tips to help fix this problem?

No one has had any issues so far that I’ve heard of. It’s a fun design, though for a blogger showcasing a stream of blog posts (instead of a few highlighted posts) it may not be the best format.
Beings I’m not a traditional blogger, and want it to look more like a website with occasional new content, this theme is great. There’s probably even a way to change the color scheme, though I’m not savvy enough to know how and would have to do playing around to figure it out.
